Palm Beach is the place where some of Sydney’s wealthiest and most famous people escape on their holidays. It’s isolated, tranquil, charming and absolutely beautiful. In Palmy you could walk right by someone like Mick Jagger and not even know it. Celebrities such as Kelly Slater, Guy Sebastian, and Nicole Kidman and hubby Keith Urban also regularly visit Palm Beach during summer. Palm Beach is located 41 kilometers north of the Sydney CBD and is home to one of Australia’s most famous tv shows, Home and Away. The golden sands of Palm Beach curve 2.3km, from Little Head to Barrenjoey Point and is an excellent place to surf. You can also follow a trail to heritage-listed Barrenjoey Lighthouse which also offers splendid views of the coast, Pittwater and Kur-ring-gai Chase National Park. In this post, I will show you these amazing sights and why you should take the plunge and get over to Palm Beach as soon as possible.
Probably one of the most popular walking trails in Sydney, the Spit to Manly walk. This walk has some of the most stunning views imaginable: Crystal blue water, secluded bays and beaches, bushland and stunning cliff views. This walk is 10 kilometers long and is not super simple. The track, however, is so stunning that it will entice you to keep going. This walk has been on my bucket list since last summer. I attempted to do it, but I could not find that start of the walk, so I gave up. My friend the other day told me exactly where to go and what to do, so I did another attempt last weekend. If you follow me on Instagram, then you have already seen some of my pictures of this walk. I had such a good time, bringing me back to the time I lived in the mountains. I was so happy and I wish I had done it sooner. In today’s blog post I will show you some of the amazing sights that you will see during this beautiful Manly coastal walk.
Last Saturday the weather was absolutely phenomenal. So I decided to go for a wander in Sydney’s Royal Botanic Garden. The garden is one of my favourite places in this city. Not only has it some of the most spectacular city views, but it is also a quiet spot in a busy city. Just think about the wonderful lush colour of the sweeping lawns, dark green canopies and thousands of beautiful flowers. The Botanic Gardens are not just a place to sit back, relax and enjoy the stunning views, there is always plenty to do and new things to discover, doesn’t matter if it’s summer or winter. In this post, I will show you some of the best places to go and ‘take you along my trip’ in the gardens.
A lot of people think about starting a blog but don’t know if it is actually something they want to pursue. They either feel like they have nothing to blog about, that their life is not interesting enough, that no one is interested in their hobbies or they are just plain scared of what other people will think of them. In this blog post, I will tell you why these insecurities are rubbish and why you should just do it. I will tell you my story and what blogging has done personally for me.
Bon Bini Dushi’s and welcome to my mini guide to Curaçao! Curaçao is a lesser-known island in the Caribbean and is home to gorgeous beaches, turquoise waters filled with sea life, rich history, and never-ending sunshine! My parents travelled to Curaçao a while back and every day they kept sending me the most amazing pictures and that they were having the best time. I was so not jealous and definitely did not wish I was there every single day. With their help, I have written this guide, so you too can have just a good of a time that they had. So, in today’s blog post, I will show you some of the best things to see and do while on this incredible island.
The Netherlands is an underrated travel destination for most people. It offers so much more than what people think. Most tourist will only go to Amsterdam and then think that they have seen the Netherlands(haha shesh). This is of course not the case. Think of destinations like Kinderdijk, Gouda, Utrecht, and Keukenhoff. While I have written an extensive guide to Amsterdam, I have yet to write anything about the rest of The Netherlands (or Holland). So here is it. Some amazing other destinations that you should see in the Netherlands besides the countries main ‘attraction’ Amsterdam.
Preparing for a trip to London? Then you have come to the right post. I will show you what you must see, where you must stay and, most importantly, where you must eat and drink on a holiday in London. A few weeks back I asked my Twitter followers which city I should do my next post. With an overwhelming majority, they choose London. I have only been to London once myself, so I have asked one friend to assist me with compiling information for this guide. She has been several times (She has been trying to count how many times, but let’s say 10+) and absolutely is in love with this city. She has been to all the hot spots and knows some lovely secret spots as well and know how to prepare for the trip. This post is filled with handy information, including all the basics, you will know exactly what to see, where to go but also how to get around in the city and where to stay.
Melbourne is known for its coffee drinking culture, its amazing arts, sports events and its great shopping opportunities. If you want to do at a true Melbournian city trip, then you must visit the iconic laneways, covered in colorful gravity, sip coffee at hidden coffee shops and spend evenings in art galleries(dreamy). The city is sophisticated, gritty and known for its 4 seasons in 1 day (be aware) and is a definite must-see when you are in Australia. In this blog post, I will show you what to see and do in a One-day itinerary to Melbourne.
Rottnest Island, just off the coast of Perth, Western Australia, is one of the most amazing islands I have ever been too in my life! With it’s raw and rough beauty and home to unique animals that only live on this island, a one day trip is an absolute must when visiting Western Australia. The island has been one of the most popular ‘holiday at home’ destinations for Western Australians. With its many charms and attractions, this island attracts a whole variety of people and therefore it is immensely popular. Whether you stay for one day or five, Rottnest will enchant, inspire and recharge your batteries for weeks to come. In the post, I will show you where to go, what to see and how to make sure you can get the elusive selfie with the world’s happiest animal when you are travelling to this island for one day!
This past weekend I wandered over to Luna Park at Milsons Point, Sydney. The park is an amusement attraction and was established in 1935, amazingly it still contains traditional midway games and rides while of course still offering your 21st-century amusements as well. The older charm that this park offers, the more the modern generation can catch a glimpse of the past.
The Vivid light’s festival has kicked off once again in all its glory in Sydney, Australia. For the next three weeks, Vivid will dazzle and amaze over 1.7 million visitors who will flock to one of the world’s most beautiful harbour city. Each year the light spectacle gets bigger and better and of course this year, well, that is also the case. The theme of this year’s festival is Light, Music, and Ideas. The majority of the installations can be seen in Circular Quay and its surroundings. In this blog post, I have set up a walking route that you can take so you will see the majority of the light festival from spectacular vantage points… not a problem 😉
Recently I was completely out of ideas for blog posts. I know I haven’t talked about it a lot, but I have been very sick and was even admitted to hospital. I am now doing a lot better (woohoo!) but I am still feeling a bit weak. As I am low on energy at the moment, my attention span is very short so obviously, when writing blog posts, you have to do a lot of research, and at the moment I don’t really have the right frame of mind to do that. So I ask some of my friends what I should do and they said to do a travel Q&A. I thought that was a great idea, so I got quite a few questions and I will answer them underneath. I hope you enjoy this post.
Ubud is located in the central foothills of the Gianyar regency, on the island of Bali, Indonesia. Ubud was made into one of Bali’s most famous destinations when it appeared in the movie “Eat, Pray, Love’ with Julia Roberts. It still encompasses what I envision authentic Indonesia should look like. Lush green rice fields, waving palm trees, friendly locals and cheap but delicious food. It was definitely one of my favorite stops during my May 2018 exploration of the tropical island. Ubud is known as the spiritual home of the island, but your local experience wouldn’t be complete without a wander around the rice fields, lunch at one of the many local coffee shops, an afternoon with some monkeys, or a visit to one of the many beautiful temples. It, therefore, makes for a perfect relaxing getaway and offers you a unique insight into Balinese living.

Falling in love with Amsterdam is easy when you know where to go and what to look for. So here is my 2 day Amsterdam itinerary, to help you plan the perfect city getaway in Amsterdam!
India is a country you either love or hate. This is what I was told when I decided to do my first international internship there. Back then I was studying Tourism and Leisure management in the Netherlands, and as part of it, you had to do at least one internship abroad. Two of my closes friends also decided to go to India so we were placed in the same hotel in Mahabalipuram. I won’t go into my internship itself, but I will try to describe what it was like as 3 Caucasian girls trying to live in India. Mamallapuram or Mahabalipuram is a small town located between the Bay of Bengal and the Great Salt Lake, in the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It’s known for its temples and monuments built by the Pallava dynasty in the 7th and 8th centuries. The Seafront Shore Temple comprises 3 ornate granite shrines. Krishna’s Butter Ball is a massive boulder balanced on a small hill near the Ganesha Ratha stone temple.
If you are thinking about starting a blog and think that it is too difficult then I have some good news for you. You can literally start a blog today! Underneath I will show you exactly which steps I took in order for me to start this blog. 1. FIND A NAME Your very first step into the blogging world should be picking a name. When thinking of a name for your blog you need to take a few things into consideration. Firstly, you want the name to be memorable. It should define what your blog is about and who you are as a person. (You should always blog about things that you love, as it will reflect in your writing and therefore elevate your blog) Keep in mind that your name should not be too limiting. For example, you can name your blog “The golden retriever’’. That will limit yourself on what you can blog about. People who will look for your site will only expect content about Golden Retrievers. This can be fine if it that is your only goal. But you are limiting yourself to branch out. What if you decide to adopt another dog and that is a German Sheppard? You don’t want to create a separate blog for that dog? I know this is a bit short-sighted, but you understand what I mean right? You, therefore, need a name that allows for growth and expansion. People change and therefore your blogging needs will chance as well. Make sure you allow for your blog to chance with you. Don’t limit your blog’s growth by setting a time (“Travelling in your twenties”) or geographical limit (“Anna in Australia”) Now, some bloggers will also tell you to think about SEO factors when picking your blog name. In a nutshell, SEO stands for “Search Engine Optimization” and refers to activities that improve your ranking on Google and other search engines. What it means is that you should add keywords that rank high on google to your blog name. The best keywords for your niche can be found here. For example, to have a higher SEO for my blog I should have added: Bondi to basic travel blog Bondi to basic solo traveler Bondi to basic female traveler I personally don’t really care for these names and couldn’t really make it work. Your blog name shouldn’t sound like a generic website but it should sound like YOU. Because your writing and your life is the reason why people decide to hang around. How I came up with name ‘Bondi to Basic’: I was brainstorming on a name for either a vlog or blog for quite a while. I didn’t want to have a blog with my name on it, but I did want it to be a clean and simple name. I like the double letter names, so one of the options that I had was: “Bondi to Bahrain’. But I have never been to Bahrain and I don’t know if I ever will. So I figured that was…
I have started this blog only a few days ago and I thought it would be fun to answer some questions in order for you to get to know me a little. You know, the typical ‘meet the blogger’ type of questions like who am I, where am I from, what do I like… All these important and rational questions that you were probably asking yourself. So don’t worry, I have now answered some of these very important questions. Get ready to be amazed…
Hi you! Thank you so much for reading my very first blog post on Bondi to Basic. I thought my very first blog post should be an explanation about why I started this website and what I want to achieve with it.
