INSTAGRAM GAMES | INSTAGRAM PROMOTIONS, IS IT WORTH IT?

Ahh yes, the dreaded Instagram games. Whether you are a blogger, photographer, fashion model or just want to become an influencer, you’ve got to play the ‘games’. Instagram can be pretty stressful, constant algorithm changes means that you’ve got to stay on top, otherwise fewer and fewer people will see your kick-ass posts. You haven’t spent hours on a photo for it to only get a few likes. Hell to the no! There are a lot of ways to try and increase your engagement, like ensuring engagement on other profiles, commenting as much as you can, producing content that can be reposted by brands/pages and so on, but I tried out the Instagram promotion feature to see whether it would boost my account. Here is what happened….

2018 YEAR IN REVIEW | MY FIRST YEAR OF BLOGGING

Another year is done and dusted. Time is going so fast and yet so slow at the same time. It is only fitting to review last year and set some goals and wishes for this year. Even though I am not a ‘new year – new me’ kinda girl – we all know that you usually only last a few weeks anyway haha! In this post, I will only review my first year of blogging. (although I started in April…) But still.

THE INSTAGRAM GAMES

Are you a blogger? A traveler? a photographer? All three or none of the above? I am sure that you then have tried to play the Instagram game! Starting a travel account, a fashion account, an interior account, a photography account or something else. You have probably, just like me, struggled with getting engagement, proper followers (No bots or just follow for follow people) and an increase in traffic (If you are a blogger). I started my blogs Instagram account a couple of months ago. Initially, I got lots of followers, likes, and comments, but as the time went on it got lower and lower by the day. I find this VERY frustrating and upsetting, so I thought I would try some things to see if I could improve my Instagram and get a larger group of followers.  In this post I will show you if I have succeeded, and what I have done to improve my blogs Instagram account.

BONDI TO BASIC | MY INSTAGRAM

I have recently started an Instagram account for this blog. Previously I used my personal Insta account, but I always felt a bit awkward posting too many pictures on there. I also had not told (still haven’t) to a lot of people that I started a blog. I guess I still feel a tad awkward about it, but that is a whole other story for another day. So today’s post is going to be a little bit different then what I normally post, well not a little but a lot. You know that I normally spend hours researching and writing posts, but today I got a little frustrated with Instagram and I thought I would write you a quick post on how amazing (if I say so myself) my Instagram account is and why I think you should follow me ASAP. Unless you are a bot… like  90% of the accounts are on Insta nowadays.  So upsetting because it used to be such a cool site. Click on read more to see why you should follow me on Instagram…

MY DAILY, WEEKLY & MONTHLY BLOGGING CHECKLIST

I think most bloggers know what I am talking about when saying that being a blogger is a lot more than just writing posts. Social Media, Emails, Planning Content, Photography, Editing and so much more. There is so much more to blogging than just blogging – If ya know what I mean.  For a while, I was struggling to get everything done on time. It is very important to update your blog consistently to keep it growing. So how do I get it all done?  For me, staying on top of my blogging to-do’s is about 2 main things: Managing distractions and maintaining focus (YouTube is my downfall, Hello Shane Dawson) Knowing what tasks to focus on (What is important and what can wait for a bit longer)  In order to get less stressed and more organized, I made some check-lists. Every day I know what to do in order to stay on top of my blog and not get snowed under by the workload. In today’s blog post, I will show some of my checklists and how I use them to maintain my saneness.

WHY YOU SHOULD START A BLOG

A lot of people think about starting a blog but don’t know if it is actually something they want to pursue. They either feel like they have nothing to blog about, that their life is not interesting enough, that no one is interested in their hobbies or they are just plain scared of what other people will think of them.  In this blog post, I will tell you why these insecurities are rubbish and why you should just do it. I will tell you my story and what blogging has done personally for me.

MUSIC I LISTEN TO WHILST BLOGGING

Getting into the zone in order to write good and long blog posts is not as easy as it sounds. Ask any blogger, I am sure they will agree with me. I am not saying that blogging isn’t fun, but you have to look up a lot of information, do research and read a lot in order to get a good information together and write a compelling post that you guys will love.  So once the research is done, I start typing and working out my posts. I always need to get into a rhythm/flow to keep my juices flowing (haha juices) and to keep the words coming.  I have made a playlist with music that I love and some from my favorite youtube influencers that they too have used in their vlogs. By listening to their music I stay inspired and want to finish my blogs to the highest standard possible.  Underneath are some of my favorite tracks to listen too. keep in mind that they are meant to keep you in a work-trance, so most don’t have any vocals in it (I know that is not every one cups of tea)

BLOGGING RESOURCES

In this post, I am sharing with you personally all the tools and products I use for my blog. I have some friends who have been wanting to start a blog for the longest time, and they feel lost. They don’t know where to start or where to go. So I thought I would compile all the information that I have required over the last couple of weeks and process it into one post. I hope you find some of my blogging resources helpful in building your own dream blog. A little reminder that each blog is different and what may work well for me may not work for you. If there is anything you want to ask me, please comment below or feel free to contact me! Any other tips that you may have, please feel free to drop them below as I would love to hear them. I will definitely check them out and add them to my resources if I think they will work for others as well. BLOGGING RESOURCES LIST BLOGGING PLATFORM  There are lots of platforms to host your website. WordPress, Blogger, Jimdo, Squarespace… I’m not even scratching the surface here. The two most common options are WordPress and Blogger.  BLOGGER VS WORDPRESS Blogger is a service owned by Google that allows anyone to start a free blog in just a few clicks. Your blog or website is hosted by Google, and they take care of everything for you. Blogger is free for a website on a *.blogspot.com subdomain So my blog name would have been http://www.bonditobasic.blogspot.com.  There are no setup fees or upgrade costs. There are no ads on your blog unless you opt-in.  Blogger is seriously simple to use Limited customization options  Blogger is perfect for the person who is just starting out and is unsure of blogging and if it is yet your cup of tea. It will literally cost you nothing to set up your first blog(BONUS!) and you can play around with it as you wish and see if this is something you would want to pursue further.  If you already know that you want to take blogging super seriously and if you need to more creative options (eg. customize your site) then my advice would be: Spare yourself the trouble and go with WordPress from the get-go. WORDPRESS.COM OR WORKPRESS.ORG  The one major difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org is who’s hosting your website. WordPress.org is where you’ll find the free WordPress software that you can download and install on your own web server.  So you have to find a hosting service like HostGator or GoDaddy. WordPress.com, on the other hand, takes care of all of the hosting for you.  Because I have had some issues with self-hosting before I decided to try wordpress.com for my blog. Curious how to set up your ow blog? Check out my 7 step guide on how I have set up Bondi to Basic in one day.  GOOGLE ANALYTICS  Google Analytics –  This is a great tracking tool and it’s free. It shows you how many people are coming to your site, what…
