2018 YEAR IN REVIEW | MY YEAR IN PHOTOS

I only started blogging in April 2018.  Before that, I was pretty down and was not doing a lot on a day to day basis. In order to get myself out of bed more and to use my fancy DSLR camera, I decided to start Bondi to Basic. In this year in review what I have been up to ever since I started this blog. Since I work full time I usually go out and about on the weekends and take photos for upcoming blog posts. So underneath you can see my year in photo’s what I have been doing for this blog.

MY FAVORITE PODCASTS

I am one of those people who stubbornly refuse to try something new. My dad had been trying to get me to listen to podcasts from when it first came out. But no, I didn’t think I would like it. Only a few months ago a friend of mine convinced me to try it, and I have been hooked ever since. The great upside of this is that I literally have hundreds of podcasts to listen too. Now, this is going to sound strange, but I love murder mysteries and true crime. So the podcasts that I listen too are all related to that subject in some way. In this post, I will show you some of my favorite podcasts I listen to regularly and that has me hooked.

BONDI TO BASIC | MY INSTAGRAM

I have recently started an Instagram account for this blog. Previously I used my personal Insta account, but I always felt a bit awkward posting too many pictures on there. I also had not told (still haven’t) to a lot of people that I started a blog. I guess I still feel a tad awkward about it, but that is a whole other story for another day. So today’s post is going to be a little bit different then what I normally post, well not a little but a lot. You know that I normally spend hours researching and writing posts, but today I got a little frustrated with Instagram and I thought I would write you a quick post on how amazing (if I say so myself) my Instagram account is and why I think you should follow me ASAP. Unless you are a bot… like  90% of the accounts are on Insta nowadays.  So upsetting because it used to be such a cool site. Click on read more to see why you should follow me on Instagram…

REVIEW | CARTIER LOVE BRACELETS DUPES

For the longest time, I have been seeing these amazing bracelets. I never knew what they were, where they were from etc, but I still loved them and thought they look amazing. The other day I was watching a youtube video where someone was wearing one of these bracelets and casually mentioned the name: the Love Bracelet. I immediately opened up google and did a search. Cause I wanted to buy one. To my disbelieve a standard love bracelet costs 6,300 AUD. WOW. There is no way I can afford that. Luckily you can find dupes for pretty much everything so I had a look on AliExpress (similar website to Wish) to see what they had to offer. When you type in love bracelet 100,302 results pop up. I bought three of these dupes to see if they can pass the bill and if they actually look similar to the real one.

THE REAL BODIES |A CONTROVERSIAL EXHIBITION

Viewer discretion is advised, the below is dealing with sensitive materials related to real human exhibits – muscles, organs, skin, bodies etc. Wow! when I heard/saw (on every billboard known to man lol!) that “Real Bodies” the exhibit was in Sydney, boy was I excited. As I personally love learning about all things to do with the human anatomy and physiology, I was quite curious as to what exactly this exhibit is about? I mean they’ve called it “Real Bodies” but surely that’s just the name, right? Ahh Nope… SHOCK! “Real Bodies” means Real Bodies! As in real humans who once roamed the earth! Ahhhhhh! Real Bodies the Exhibit presents the artful display of 20 REAL, perfectly preserved human bodies and 200 anatomical specimens – fancy wording for human organs (don’t worry I’ve got your back 😉), so strap in and prepare to be amazed and intrigued, because below are some pretty incredible pictures and some fascinating information. This one will knock your socks off, I guarantee it! I know that there is quite a bit of controversy around this exhibition, but after doing some research I decided I still wanted to go ahead with posting it. I was unsure if you guys would be interested in seeing a post on this, so on my twitter account, I ran a quick poll. The voting was unanimous, even though only 7 people voted lol. But nonetheless, I have decided to write a post for this exhibition. I will also dive into why this exhibition is so controversial so that you can make a well thought out decision if you wish to go or not.  Again, if you don’t like to see bodies, organs etc then please don’t click on this post.   Another quick disclaimer: I have taken the pictures with my iPhone so the quality is not as good as it is normally. But somehow I found it a tad strange and disrespectful to be taking pictures with my DSLR camera. So my apologies for that.

WHY YOU SHOULD START A BLOG

A lot of people think about starting a blog but don’t know if it is actually something they want to pursue. They either feel like they have nothing to blog about, that their life is not interesting enough, that no one is interested in their hobbies or they are just plain scared of what other people will think of them.  In this blog post, I will tell you why these insecurities are rubbish and why you should just do it. I will tell you my story and what blogging has done personally for me.

REVIEW | EYELASH GROWTH SERUM | WHY I STOPPED USING IT

For months I have seen girls talk about eyelash serums that supposedly help grow your eyelashes. I have seen several Teen Moms, and even Kim Kardashian promote these serums.  I always thought that it sounded too good to be true.  So I never bought the product myself. A few weeks back it was my birthday (HOORAY) and I got a surprise parcel all the way from the Netherlands from my amazing sister. This parcel was filled with numerous gifts, including an eyelash serum. So, of course, I had to try it out.  In this blog post, I will tell you what happened when I used this serum and why I stopped using it after a few weeks. Read on for my review.

She was raving about this – all organic skincare and I had to try it out after hearing her rave review about the products and seeing how amazing her skin looked.  In today’s post, I will give you my honest review of the go-to skincare range.

MUSIC I LISTEN TO WHILST BLOGGING

Getting into the zone in order to write good and long blog posts is not as easy as it sounds. Ask any blogger, I am sure they will agree with me. I am not saying that blogging isn’t fun, but you have to look up a lot of information, do research and read a lot in order to get a good information together and write a compelling post that you guys will love.  So once the research is done, I start typing and working out my posts. I always need to get into a rhythm/flow to keep my juices flowing (haha juices) and to keep the words coming.  I have made a playlist with music that I love and some from my favorite youtube influencers that they too have used in their vlogs. By listening to their music I stay inspired and want to finish my blogs to the highest standard possible.  Underneath are some of my favorite tracks to listen too. keep in mind that they are meant to keep you in a work-trance, so most don’t have any vocals in it (I know that is not every one cups of tea)
