Mini Guide to Bondi Beach | Sydney, Australia

Mini Guide to Bondi Beach | Sydney, Australia

I needed to escape the hustle and bustle of busy North  Sydney the other weekend. It has been hectic at work and I needed a quick break before the summer season started. The beauty of living in Sydney means that there are loads of great weekend break destinations within a few hours.

So this mini-break I decided I wanted to go to the beach, especially because it was going to be 32 degrees and I needed some chill time.

So that is what I did, I booked a hotel and off I went.

I wandered the streets of Bondi, watched a sunset and enjoyed some time at the beach. If you are interested in going on a weekend to Bondi Beach then check out my post underneath.

I stayed at Adina Apartment Hotel Bondi Beach Sydney who offer large and modern apartments only a few minutes walk from Bondi Beach. Surrounded by cute cafes, ice cream shops and lots of boutique shops, these apartments are perfectly located for a weekend break. (You don’t want to spend hours walking or travelling towards the beach)

If these apartments are a tad too expensive for you (They ain’t cheap) then I suggest having a look at Airbnb. There are not a lot of hotels available in the near vicinity of the beach.

Check out my extensive review of Adina Apartments.

Firstly the Bondi to Coogee walk is a popular daytime activity. This 6K walk offers some amazing coastal views along the way.

Pick up the trail behind Icebergs, at the far end of Bondi Beach. The trail winds along the coast, with plenty of up and down to sneak in your cardio, but your reward is the stunning coastal views, rock pools and many beaches you’ll come across along your way. You can choose your own adventure and turn back or hop on a bus at different locations throughout the walk. Try to stick it out to the end though, cause it is worth it.

I have written an encompassing guide on this walk. Click here for more information.

The iconic Icebergs club is one of the most famous pools in the world. A Bondi landmark and a popular spot for locals and tourists/celebrities(wink) alike. Come during the day to swim (adult entrance fee for pool & sauna is $6.50AUD) or at sunset to enjoy a cocktail on the terrace. Perched against the ocean, waves regularly crash into the pool as guests are swimming or sunbathing on the rocks.

This is also a great spot to take Instagram pictures. During the day and around sunset time, the different colors in water make a great feature on your Instagram.

Taking a dip at Bondi Beach is an absolute must. This world-famous beach cannot be seen without having a dip in the ocean. Now be smart and swim between the flags, otherwise, you might be staring in an episode of Bondi Rescue.  Although the ocean looks (often) pretty mellow, it can actually be quite tricky underneath the surface. Dangerous rips can be found all over the beaches and the Boys in Blue know how to spot them (Hallelujah!)

You can catch some amazing sunsets at Bondi Beach. In summer they can get intents and red, so for me, its a bit too early. But even in spring when they are a bit more fresh and mellow, they are still absolutely stunning. I went to the iceberg club to catch the sunset there. Which is probably the most popular and most photographed spot.

Please check if these restaurants are still operating when you are travelling to Bondi. They change very often, so I don’t want you to be disappointed when they are permanently closed. These are some restaurants that I tried on a trip in December 2018.

Bondi Hardware | 39 Hall St |  Bondi Beach NSW 2026
I had late lunch here when I arrived on the Friday right after checking in. I loved the food and the atmosphere. It describes themselves as having inventive bistro food and cocktails in a funky, rustic-chic restaurant with a leafy courtyard.

Sean’s Panorama | 270 Campbell Parade | Bondi Beach NSW 2026
A cozy space with eclectic decor, a passionate and attentive wait staff, and top-notch food. I really loved it here. Their dishes are seasonal and fresh and absolutely delicious.

Naomi Levi  | 52 Hall Street | Bondi Beach NSW 2026
beautiful boho clothing made from quality materials. From stunning flowy dresses to cute tops and some jewellery this store has it all.

Mezi Australia | 1/9 Hall St | Bondi Beach NSW 2026
I am not sure if this is a chain store, but I have never seen it before. A stunning jewellery shop. Not the cheapest you will ever find, but it has some really beautiful jewellery.
