HALF A DAY SNORKELING AT THE GREAT BARRIER REEF | OCEAN SAFARI

The Great Barrier Reef in Northern Queensland is a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1981. Due to pollution and bleaching, the reef is in a bit of trouble. When I, therefore, had the chance of snorkeling at two different locations during a snorkel safari I jumped at the chance. If I had known that there would be a storm and that the weather was going to be choppy, I might have reconsidered…. But there was no way out. So, in this post, I will take you along my very interesting ocean safari to two different reef sites (Mackay and Undine Reefs) at the Great Barrier reef and I will show you what wonderful world lies underneath the rough ocean.

Queensland is filled with stunning national parks, reef filled oceans, rainforests and lots of spectacular wildlife.  One of the most spectacular places I visited during this trip was Cape Hillsborough National Park. The national park can be found near MacKay and offers some of the most spectacular sights! From Kangaroos on the beach during sunset to Prehistoric rock formations and the rainforest meets the ocean.   In this post, I will show you what you can see and do during your visit to this park. Let’s dive in and explore this incredible national park….

CAPE HILLSBOROUGH BEACH KANGAROOS

When you set your alarm at 5.15 am you know it’s going to be spectacular (Or a least, it better be). My alarm went off at this gauzily hour to watch a sunrise with Kangaroos and wallabies playing and chilling on the beach whilst the sun slowly rose behind them. In this blog post, I will take you along this incredible sight at Cape Hillsborough National Park. I will show you many photos and I will give you my honest opinion about whether it is worth the early morning wake up call.  Let’s explore the kangaroos of Cape Hillsborough National Park!

WHALE WATCHING IN HERVEY BAY | WALE WATCHING PARADISE

Hervey Bay in Queensland is known as a whale-watching paradise. Due to its unique location, whales can be found here for months on end. They deliver their calves there and spend a couple of weeks in the waters before they swim further.  In September of this year, I was in Hervey Bay, and I could not leave this town without a whale-watching cruise. So at 6.30 am my alarm went off and we headed to the Spirit of Hervey Bay for a morning cruise.

LODGING REVIEW | BLUE HORIZON, AIRLIE BEACH

Located in the hub to the Whitsundays and near the Great Barrier Reef lies Airlie Beach. This town is perfect for a mini break from busy city life and it lies only a 3-hour flight from Sydney.  Located on the edge of the city center lies an apartment hotel, Blue Horizon. Located a 6-minute walk from the Cruise Whitsundays terminal at the Port of Airlie, these sophisticated apartments are also a 12-minute walk from Airlie Beach and 3.8 km from Conway National Park.  Underneath you will find my honest review of my apartment and its additional facilities.
