More and more women are choosing to explore the world solo. Traveling on your own can feel scary but it is definitely fun, and it helps you grow as a person. You will end up exploring new places, meet new people and make more friends. Often, we find ourselves craving an adventure, but our friends are too busy, they can’t take time off work, or they simply don’t have the budget to travel. This is why you should definitely consider traveling alone. One of the benefits of traveling alone is that you get to choose the places that you want to visit and explore.
If you are thinking of traveling solo for the first time and you are not sure where you want to go, read on to find out more about various travel experiences.
1. London | ENGLAND
If this is your first time traveling alone, the United Kingdom is a wonderful choice to get you started on your solo traveling journeys. With an amazing public transport system, the local language being English and the familiarity with the culture makes London a great option for solo female travelers. Whether you want to visit museums, party at one of the famous night clubs, shop at Oxford Street or take a boat trip, there are endless things that you can do alone while visiting London.
One of my favorite things to do in London is to visit museums. I would highly recommend starting with the Natural History Museum where you get to see the infamous Diplodocus skeleton in the main hall. After discovering the National History Museum, pop in next door to the Science Museum. There is a reason why the Science Museum is Europe’s most visited science and technology museum, so you don’t want to skip this one!
After you have visited the Science Museum, you can take a short walk to the Victoria and Albert Museum where you can see amazing artwork. Being the world’s largest museum of applied and decorative arts and design, there are various things to see while you are there.
Lastly, visit the British Museum and explore their remarkable collection which includes the Rosetta Stone, Egyptian mummies, and Parthenon sculptures.
The blend of ancient history and advanced technological developments makes Japan a very interesting and unique travel destination. With female-only train cabins, traveling around Japan as a solo female traveler is known to be safe.
Whether you want to climb Mount Fuji, visit the Imperial Palace which is still used by the Imperial family, there are various attractions to explore.
I would highly recommend visiting Japan during the Cherry Blossom season. The colors of the blushing blooms make the perfect backdrop for your Instagram photos! (don’t forget to take a selfie stick – I’ve got your back girlfriend!).
3. New Zealand
Famous for its picturesque landscapes, New Zealand is another great option for your solo travel adventure. The locals are very down to earth and friendly making it one of the best options for the first time female solo travelers. Whether you want to go skydiving or whale watching, there is something for everyone!
If you love the outdoors, New Zealand is the perfect destination for you. You can go bungy jumping in Queenstown, admire the golden sand beaches in Abel Taman National Park or see the turquoise water while you cruise around the Bay of Islands.
France is home to the iconic Eiffel Tower, the Louvre Museum and the Palace of Versailles. This is why it comes to no surprise that France is one of the most visited countries by tourists. Solo travellers from all over the world are lured in by the magnificent architecture, rich history, and iconic landmarks. On top of that, you will be enjoying delicious food and fine wine.
Whenever possible, choose to walk around the city as this is the best way to absorb the rich culture and buildings. This is why I recommend that you find accommodation that is central and within a walking distance of the major attractions.
With sky-high mountains, remote beaches and magnificent rainforests, there is plenty to see in Canada! The world’s second-largest country is a great option for your solo travel adventures as it has a low crime rate, it is easy to travel within the country and one of the official languages is English.
From visiting and exploring the vibrant city of Vancouver to discovering the famous Niagara Falls, there is plenty of things to do while in Canada.
