I only recently started this blog and I wanted to make sure that I had some platforms to post my blogs on. It is a bit frustrating when you write blogs for no one to read (Even though I said I didn’t mind that in the beginning) I was interested in showcasing my blog to more people, so I wanted to join some group boards on Pinterest.

I used Fiverr for the first time ever to help me join the boards because it is pretty impossible to get access to decent boards without help. Unfortunately, instead of actually helping my blog, it ended up harming it.

In this blog post, I will tell you why you should not be using Fiverr for your Pinterest account and what could happen if you do.

Read on to see what happened…

Firstly, I want to say that I was not aware that using Fiverr could have any negative consequences to my Pinterest account. If I had known I would have not used it. I had never seen any posts from other bloggers before, warning you not to use it or what happened when they did. So it never even occurred to me that it might be ‘Illegal’ or that there could be any negative consequences if you were to use it.

What I was interested in, was getting invited to some travel group boards to increase the exposure of my travel blog posts.

That is all I was after. Nothing dodgy, nothing harmful, nothing weird, nothing spammy, just access to some travel boards so that I could post my latest travel posts on there. That’s it.

I had never used Fiverr before but I had heard of it through some YouTube video’s and thought I would check it out.

I went to the site and searched for some sellers that could invite me to some group boards as I wanted.

As you can see there are a ton of people offering to add you to group boards. For me, that meant that there is no harm in paying someone to add you to a board. A lot of them also have a ton of reviews (whether reviews are legit or not, that is another story of course) But for me, no alarms bells went off.

I choose a seller (I won’t say what the sellers’ name is, as I don’t know if it was his fault or just bad luck? (I don’t want to give him or her a bad name just in case) and then I purchased access to 13 boards for $12.10.

I had to fill-in some questions about what type of boards I would like to be invited too and I got sent a link to a Pinterest account with some boards that I could choose from. In the end, I could only pick 9 boards, which is fine and I got a message from the seller that the invitations were sent the next day.

When I logged in to my Pinterest account I could initially still log in, but after about 1 minute I got locked out. I tried to log-in again immediately but I got a message saying that my account got suspended and that I should check my emails.

At that stage, I had not accepted ANY of the invitations sent to me.

I got an email from Pinterest already saying the following:

Since I am a pretty new blogger ( I have been blogging for 3 weeks only) I have not been spamming the site. (At least not that I am aware of)
Since I no longer have access to my account POOO! I can’t say exactly how many pins I had online, but somewhere between 10-20. So I obviously haven’t been posting the same pins over and over and over again.

Their spam policy is as follows:

Schermafbeelding 2018-05-13 om 23.35.40.png

Again, I honestly don’t think I have done any of that. So I thought this is quite strange but that it must be some sort of error? So I clicked on the link asking them to review it and I thought I would be back online within 48 hours.

I forgot about it and 5 days later I wanted to log-in to Pinterest but I noticed that I was still locked out. I sent them another email asking to review my account suspension and to please revise it. Again, no reply. A few days later I emailed them again (third time) and up until today, they have not bothered to reply to me nor open my account again.

I have no idea why they suspended my account, but they only thing that I can think of is that somehow I got suspended for getting invited to 9 group boards at the same time.

I contacted the seller and he told me the following;

So I don’t know for sure why I got suspended because Pinterest can’t be bothered to reply, which is quite strange.  I had asked them if they could tell me why my account had been suspended so I at least would know and not repeat the same mistake.

Since I hadn’t used Pinterest in a few days and got locked out the first time I logged in after getting the group board invites, I am pretty sure it had something to do with this.  Unless I got hacked and someone else was using my account to spam people. If that had been the case, I think my account would have been released the first time I asked them to review the suspension. I’m sure they would have seen that it was different content and then they could have released my account. I am sure that happens quite a lot, and they would be able to tell from their data.

I just want to warn you in case you are thinking about using Fiverr to get some board invites. I don’t want this to happen to you too. Group boards can be an amazing tool to get some more exposure for your blog. But if that means getting kicked off Pinterest… well hellll NO! it is not worth the risk.  Pinterest is still one of the most powerful tools for getting traffic to your blog. So for me, this is devastating.

My advice: Don’t risk it and stay away from buying in.

If Pinterest will contact me about why I can no longer use their site or if they reinstate my account, then I will update this post accordingly. If that doesn’t happen, then I might make a new account under my own name, but I am not 100%  sure yet. I don’t really want to do that, but I know how important this site is for bloggers so I might have to bite the bullet and just do it haha.

Do you have any advice that may help? or have you too had the same thing happen?? Comment below to start the conversation.

Update 6th of June 2018

Bondi to basic Pintest
I was able to re-activate my old blog account. Hopefully, this one will stay active. I somehow can’t change my picture, but I have a Pinterest account again and atm that’s all that matters.

About 2 weeks ago I received a standard email from Pinterest saying that my account will stay suspended because I had broken ‘too many’ rules. Since this was one of those standard emails, they did not explain WHAT I did wrong and WHY they feel the need to block me from the site FOREVER. Again, I feel like I didn’t do much wrong, and if I did, a stern warning would have been sufficient in my eyes.

Without Pinterest, I don’t think my blog has ANY chance of succeeding. So today I decided to see if my old Pinterest account could be revived. (I had a blog before this one and I closed my Pinterest account when I closed my blog)
I was able to log in again and I was able to change some things around to make it work with my new blog.

I am not cheering just yet, as I am worried that they somehow will close my account again…. Cause of reasons unknown to me.
So yes, I am back on Pinterest, but if I am able to stay on is another question.

Wow, that sucks! I am sorry that happened to you. I haven’t joined boards in a while but I think I requested 6 or 7 in one day and nothing happened to me. I have gotten a few emails from Pinterest saying they deleted a pin but it wasn’t a pin of mine. Huh, that’s weird they won’t email you back. I’m going to send them an email to see if they respond back! There are companies that promote with them and I’m sure they have time for those accounts. Ugh, that aggravated me. I’m sorry, PMS rant lol so sorry!

      Hi Leslie,
Yeah its very frustrating that they don’t want to say why my account got suspended. I’m very confused. Pinterest is so important for a new blogger to get your blog posts out there, It’s a shame that they don’t allow me back. (Even if I did something wrong, I had so few pins that they could have easily warned me or something. To immediately block a small blogger with like 20 pins from the site is a very dramatic measure) xx
